AUTONOMOUS UNIVERSITY OF MADRID (UAM), Spain
Project
The Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Autonomous University of Madrid) in Spain required a climate control system for a wide range of applications in different libraries and faculty buildings. Energy efficiency, low fuel/electricity costs and adequate heating/cooling performance were high priorities for the university.
Task
The primary task was to integrate a large number of absorption cycle water chillers/heating plants throughout the university to service the large number of university buildings, each with varying requirements. A total of 15 absorption cycle water chillers/heating plants distributed throughout the university that cover its heating and air-conditioning needs throughout the year.
Solution
All the generators of the chillers/heating plants are supplied by gas and provide central heating in winter and air-conditioning in summer. Both the heat and cold produced by the units are distributed by a closed water circuit.
Climate control system consisting of:
- 2 Yazaki units, CH-V40 model
- 3 Yazaki units, CH-V50 model
- 2 Yazaki units, CH-V80 model
- 6 Yazaki units, CH-V100 model
- 2 Yazaki units, CH-K100 model
Technical data of the installed YAZAKI absorption chillers
Installed cooling capacity:
CH-V40 = 141 x 2 = 282 kW
CH-V50 = 176 x 3 = 528 kW
CH-V80 = 281 x 2 = 562 kW
CH-V100 = 352 x 6 = 2112 kW
CH-K100 = 352 x 2 = 704 kW
4,188 kW in total
Installed calorific capacity:
CH-V40 = 169 x 2 = 338 kW
CH-V50 = 211 x 3 = 633 kW
CH-V80 = 229 x 2 = 458 kW
CH-V100 = 286 x 6 = 1716 kW
CH-K100 = 286 x 2 = 572 kW
3,717 kW in total
