Another absorption cooling application that has come to the fore is biomass. As the use of biomass is CO2-neutral, biomass energy can be employed for cooling purposes while significantly reducing emissions at the same time.
Characteristics of waste heat from biomass applications:
- Driving energy is provided by CO2-neutral combustion of wood or biomass pellets
- Additional heat utilisation option with farm-scale biogas plants (e.g. for the cooling of stables)
- Low electrical consumption for an absorption cooling machine, thus alleviating strain on electricity grids by replacing conventional demand peaks for cooling purposes
- The piping infrastructure in a modern building may be used for both cooling or heating distribution
The scheme below shows an example of a biomass cooling system configuration.
YAZAKI provides the chiller/heater unit only. If you need more information about other equipment such as cooling towers, valves etc. please contact the manufacturers of this equipment.
